“Sorcerer’s Apprentice” Director Jon Turteltaub Pays Homage to “Fantasia”

With the release of Disney’s “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” today, no doubt fans and critics alike will be voicing their opinions on not only the movie as a whole, but on a particular scene that pays homage to “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” sequence from Disney’s 1940 classic “Fantasia.”

In our MakingOf exclusive interview with director Jon Turtertaub, he walks us through the process of piecing the “mop sequence” together, from watching the “Fantasia” sequence “over and over and over again” to writing the plot line of “why is it important to clean up this whole space quickly,” to shooting, to building the set, to visual effects…and finally when everything is done “you hopefully have a sequence.”
