In part two of our exclusive interview with "The Pacific" Writer and Co-executive Producer Bruce C. McKenna, he paints a behind-the-scenes picture of what it was like the first time he went on location. He describes the intricate details of what went into constructing the largest set in cinema history and his reaction when he saw the results of the 1,400 person crew. "My God what a moment for a writer. You have an image in your head, write it on a piece of paper and then there it is."

McKenna explains how this was all possible because of HBO. "One of the things that differentiates HBO from the rest of television is that they are willing to give you the money to fill your frame in a way that’s dense – very much like a movie." McKenna shares one of the most-rewarding moments when a Veteran told him "this was the most most accurate depiction of night time combat – you got it right." McKenna also talks about the team’s unending commitment to keeping the integrity of what really happened in WW II and to honoring the Veterans who sacrificed their lives.

The 10-part miniseries "The Pacific" marks HBO’s follow up to the award-winning miniseries "Band of Brothers." The premiere episode aired on March 14 and new episodes will air on HBO every Sunday night at 9pm.
