Director Antoine Fuqua, whose new film "Brooklyn’s Finest" is currently in theaters, sat down with MakingOf CEO Christine Aylward to answer questions about the biggest challenge he faces as a director, how he cast this film and to reveal his feelings about having to re-cut the movie once it was finished.
During this interview, Fuqua also describes how he envisioned his cast while he was reading the script and shares that the first actor he called was Wesley Snipes. He saw similarities between the character and Snipes which he explains by saying, "Here’s a guy who doesn’t want his old life yet he can’t get the new life he wants. He’s stuck in the middle." He also goes into detail about cutting his film down from 145 minutes to two hours and calls that part of the process a "curse and a blessing."
Fuqua’s filmography includes the Academy Award nominated movie "Training Day" and the Mark Wahlberg action flick "Shooter."
